The place in which Hinduism began is no doubt India due to excavation sites and historical evidence. Although we know where it started it is very hard to pinpoint when it started because Hinduism wasn't founded as a religion but as a way of life. The second reason its hard to pinpoint when it started is that there was no single founder of Hinduism.
Define Brahma, Vishnu, Siva
Brahma is the creator, Vishnu is the preserver, and Shiva is the transformer or destroyer.

The concept of Brahman and Atman pretty much means that each soul comes from and is made of the same reality as the world soul.
